Sustainability in the Region: Solar Power on Haida Gwaii

All the Beach You Can Eat is a Northern BC Tourism stakeholder located on North Beach in Haida Gwaii. They offer off-grid cabins right on the beach for visitors to stay at.

North Beach is an un-manicured original treasure, and the five unique beach cabins are designed to provide comfort within a wild setting.

Thanks to Spark Sustainable Energy Solutions, All the Beach You Can Eat has installed a solar array, bringing power to their off-grid cabins for the first time. Before this installation, all lighting was done through battery-operated lights and laundry and internet were done by using a generator for power. The solar panels are located on the beach and provide power to the cabins for the first time.

Lisa, the owner of All the Beach You Can Eat, also shared that visitors love the addition of power and this will allow them to make more upgrades to their cabins including being able to move water around easier.

All the Beach You Can Eat accessed the BC Recovery Grant to help fund these solar panels.

According to Lisa, people want to have an off-grid experience, but they also want to have access to power, and this allows the business to offer that to visitors in a sustainable way.
