Northern BC Tourism Association is excited to launch Beyond the Horizon – a Tourism Experience Development Program across the Highway 16 and Highway 37 corridors, creating new opportunities for tourism businesses and communities to develop memorable visitor experiences with the support of dedicated industry experts.

Building on the pilot program in northeast BC, this next phase expands the program across the Highway 16 and Highway 37 corridors, supporting tourism operators from McBride to Prince Rupert and along the Cassiar Highway.

Beyond the Horizon is designed to help tourism operators bring new ideas to life, strengthen existing experiences, and create more reasons for visitors to explore, stay longer, and connect more deeply with northern BC.

A Community-Based Approach

The program will support three sub-regional cohorts, with expert facilitators working alongside participants to identify opportunities, shape ideas, build confidence, and strengthen market readiness.

Each cohort will follow a community-informed approach that recognizes the unique strengths, visitor opportunities, and sense of place found throughout the Highway 16 and Highway 37 corridors.

The Highway 16 and Highway 37 corridors are shaped by mountains, rivers, forests, coastlines, cultures, communities, and stories. From outdoor adventure and wildlife viewing to local food, arts, heritage, Indigenous tourism, and community-based experiences, the region offers exceptional opportunities for authentic visitor experiences.
