As the Beyond the Horizons Experience Development Program wraps up, NBCTA is celebrating a successful pilot that supported tourism operators across northeast BC in developing fresh, compelling visitor experiences. Designed and delivered in partnership with Tourism Café Canada and Destination BC, the program blended research, in-community workshops, targeted e-learning, personalized coaching, and live experience trials.
Ten operators participated, with a majority ready to bring new experiences to market for 2026—from cultural storytelling and guided fossil adventures to inclusive hiking and forest-to-fork food explorations. Participants gained practical skills in experience design, costing and pricing, visitor testing, and aligning stories with regional themes.
This pilot has not only strengthened individual businesses but also built lasting regional capacity by fostering connections, boosting market readiness, and enhancing the diversity of tourism offerings across the northeast. The learnings from this successful trial will guide future expansions of experience development programming across northern BC.
