Rendezvous is held annually in a different Canadian city. It is one of our busiest and longest shows. Appointments are typically held over 5 days and because of the volume of interest, northern BC typically sends two delegates. Buyers come from a variety of international destinations and our focus remains on meeting with the maximum number of qualified buyers from North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. We also meet with Asian buyers as time allows though this is not currently a priority market.
BC Downunder is Tourism BC’s biannual trade mission. All regions attend along with key suppliers such as VIA Rail and BC Ferries. Prescheduled appointments, media presentations, and a travel agent night are all components of the event. Following our attendance at the 2007 event several new itineraries were launched in northern BC. Our appointment schedule is full with no available slots.
Canada’s West is a partnership between Travel Alberta and Tourism BC. It is an annual marketplace bringing together international buyers and sellers from BC and Alberta over 3 days. Appointments are prescheduled and because of strong demand send two delegates.
The National Tour Association attracts larger tour operators from North America who are primarily running series tours. Prescheduled appointments occur over 3 days.
Tourism BC hosts an annual presentation to receptive tour operators located in Vancouver. Each region prepares a presentation and the day concludes with a networking session. The overall goal of the event is to provide updates to the receptive operators to are selling BC product to international tour operators.
As part of the provincial strategy we will continue to conduct individual sales calls and agent training. Sales calls will allow us to spend more time working with key accounts and agent training provides a good foundation to increase sales of northern BC product.
