Northern BC Tourism Plaza was designed and activated for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, held earlier this year in Prince George. The Plaza was a great success and saw more than 20,000 visitors from across Canada over a two-week period, bringing together a team of 18 communities and two regional districts from north and central BC.
We are now happy to announce that the Plaza project has won two industry awards...
Destination BC and the Tourism Industry Association of BC just announced the winners of the 2015 BC Tourism Industry Awards at a gala event October 20 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The awards recognize excellence in the province's tourism industry where recipients provide outstanding service, exemplify best business practices and innovative marketing, and deliver tourism experiences that contribute to the success of BC's tourism industry.
Northern BC Tourism was the recipient of the Innovation Award, one of five awards handed out at this awards gala. The award recognizes an individual, organization or consortium that has devised and implemented an innovative initiative or marketing campaign that is directed at increasing the number of visitors within the province.
Then on October 24, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted their 2015 Business Excellence Awards at the Prince George Civic Centre. Ten awards were handed out in categories ranging from the prestigious Business Person of the Year to the popular Service Excellence Award. Northern BC Tourism was the recipient of the Tourism Impact Award which recognizes a Prince George based business or organization that has delivered a top quality product or service which had worked to promote tourism and hospitality for Prince George and the region.
"The Northern BC Tourism Plaza was a highlight during the Canada Winter Games, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the regions tourism experiences and culture. It was a truly collaborative effort showcasing experiences from both the Northern BC and Cariboo Chilcotin Coast regions of the province. We feel honoured to have been recognized for our efforts provincially and would like thank our partners for helping us provide visitors with a truly remarkable northern experience."
