Northern BC Tourism is excited to announce we have reached an agreement with Google and will be hosting the Google Trekker in our region during the months of June, July and August, 2016.
What is the Google Trekker?
Google is expanding its Street View coverage beyond the "streetview" to offer Google Earth users more viewing options. This will allow "virtual visitors" to be able to explore remote outdoor locations which are inaccessible by road. Check out the Trekker video here. You can also view completed Trekker projects, which include locations such as the Pyramids of Giza, Venice and the Galapagos Islands on the Treks Page.
"Northern BC Tourism is thrilled about this opportunity and what it means for our tourism region. We will now be able to literally put Northern BC's wild places and spaces on the map for the world to see. Allowing users to experience our wilderness virtually will inspire them to visit in the future and we are excited to partner with Google to make this happen", said Clint Fraser.
We will be developing the Trekker schedule over the coming months so stay tuned for when it will be in your area. More information and details on this exciting program are coming soon.
